ITINERARY

 

Day 1: Arrival Day

  • Drive or fly to Albuquerque, the largest city in New Mexico and one of the oldest in North America. Discover pulsating cultural scene by means of museums, permanent or temporary events as well as native food, to name only a few.
  • Welcome dinner.

Day 2: Albuquerque

  • Breakfast.
  • Walking tour of Albuquerque. Learn all about the history of the “Duke City”, but also the legends that partly shaped its identity.
  • Time to purchase lunch.
  • Sandia Peak Aerial Tramway. Reach the Sandia Peak via this 15-minute ride (one way) while admiring the spectacular beauty of the canyons and fields above which you will be flying.
  • Educational program at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, an interactive and cultural center exhibiting all kinds of North American art. Topics available:
    • Pueblo Pollinators; Pueblo Resources & Symbolism; Three Sisters: corn, beans, & squash; Butterflies, Planting & Reciprocity.
  • Group dinner.

Day 3: Albuquerque – Santa Fe

  • Breakfast.
  • Guided tour with a docent of the National Hispanic Cultural Center, another world-renowned establishment devoted to traditional arts, music and culture through more than 700 events.
  • Drive from Albuquerque to Santa Fe, a city encompassing a rich history, culture and untouched traditions relating to the native American Indians.
  • Free time at Old Plaza.
  • Group dinner.
  • Ghost walking tour.

Day 4: Santa Fe – Los Alamos – Santa Fe

  • Breakfast.
  • Guided tour with a docent of the Georgia O'Keefe Museum.
  • Day-trip to Los Alamos (approx. 1 hour’s drive one way). Visit two museums (guided tours with a docent):
    • Bradbury Science Museum. Follow the steps of the Manhattan Project during World Word II and be introduced to the laboratory’s present research work about defense and technology.
    • Los Alamos History Museum followed by a Manhattan Project Scavenger Hunt in the museum.
  • Cooking class and dinner.

Day 5: Santa Fe – Taos Pueblo – Santa Fe

  • Breakfast.
  • Day-trip to Taos (approx. 2 hours’ drive one way).
  • Short hike in Taos Valley.
  • Guided tour of the Taos Pueblo, a local Native American community. The reminder of your time there is self-guided.
  • Farewell dinner.

Day 6: Departure Day

  • Breakfast.
  • Drive or fly to home city.
