ITINERARY

 

Day 1: Departure Day

  • Fly from departure city to Prague.

Day 2: PRAGUE

  • Upon arrival at the airport you will be welcomed by your tour manager, Prague is one of the most enchanting cities in Europe. It was under Charles IV during the 14th century that Prague briefly became the seat of the Holy Roman Empire - virtually the capital of Western Europe - and acquired its distinctive Gothic imprint. Prague escaped serious wartime damage and is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Europe today. Mozart claimed that no one understood him better than the citizens of Prague, and he was only one of several great masters who lived or lingered here.
  • Enjoy a half day guided city tour including the Castle District and ending at the historic Old Town Square.
  • Enjoy a welcome dinner and overnight Prague.

Accommodation: Moderate accommodation in Prague (3 nights).

Day 3: PRAGUE

  • Breakfast at your accommodation.
  • This morning visit of Dvorak House, a museum dedicated to the great Czech composer Antonín Dvorák (1841-1904).
  • There will be time to purchase lunch.
  • Performance at St. Simon & Juda Church or St. Nicholas Church.
  • After the performance, enjoy a brewery tour and taste different kinds of beer. There is evidence that hops was being grown in the Czech lands in 850 AD. The Czechs have records of beer brewing from 990 AD, kept by Bohemian monks at Brevnov Monastery near Prague Castle. The Czechs made the world's first golden beer in 1842, beer made at the Pilsen brewery - the birth of Pilsner and beginning of a success story that now spans the world.
  • Dinner at a local restaurant or at your accommodation.

Day 4: PRAGUE

  • Breakfast at your accommodation.
  • This day is free to explore Prague.
  • Enjoy a group dinner while you cruise the Vltava River with stunning views of Prague.

Day 5: PRAGUE - VIENNA

  • Breakfast at your accommodation.
  • Transfer to Vienna.
  • Guided sightseeing tour of Vienna to get an impression of the city. Visit the Stephans Cathedral, where Haydn at the age of eight attracted attention of Georg Reutter (Kapellmeister.) Continue and pass the State Opera and the famous Musikverein and see the different Palaces. At the end of the tour you will visit Vienna cemetery where you will see the grave sites of Beethoven, Schubert, Strauss and the Mozart Memorial.
  • Dinner at a local restaurant.

Accommodation: Moderate accommodation in Vienna (4 nights).

Day 6: VIENNA

  • Breakfast at your accommodation.
  • Visit the Vienna House of Music; this awarded interactive museum is about sound, the Vienna Philharmonic and all composers of the Viennese School. Or, enjoy a guided visit of the State Opera house which was inaugurated in 1869, see the tea room, the decoration of the foyers and the ultra-modern stage.
  • There will be time to purchase lunch at the Nasch Market with its charming covered premises where the atmosphere is typical of Vienna.
  • Rehearsal at your venue.
  • Early group dinner at a local restaurant.
  • Evening performance at Votiv Kirche, Karlskirche or Peterskirche (*only sacred music).
  • Back to your hotel for overnight in Vienna.

Day 7: VIENNA

  • Breakfast at your accommodation.
  • Morning visit to Palace Schönbrunn, the Palace of Empress 'Sisi' Elisabeth. During the reign of Maria Theresa, Schönbrunn was the summer residence of the court. Marie-Antoinette, the future Queen of France, spent her childhood there. It was in the concert room that Mozart (later on a model and good friend of Haydn) at the age of six astonished the empress and their courtiers with its amazing talents. Also the Emperor Franz Joseph was born here and died. During a guided tour you will see the different apartments, total 46 are open for the visitors. The Palace is a triumph of the Rococo style of the 18 C.
  • Transfer back to Vienna to visit the Kunst haus museum and see Hundertwasserhaus. This low-cost housing development was built in 1984 and designed by the cosmopolitan artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. It is outstanding for the variety of materials and architectural motifs, loggias, statues and bulbs. The rest of the afternoon is free to have coffee at one of the classical Viennese Kaffeehauses. Don't forget to taste the Sacher Torte.
  • Dinner at your own arrangements.

Day 8: VIENNA

  • Breakfast at your accommodation.
  • Today you will drive to Eisenstadt (southeast from Vienna) Haydn's town for a guided tour at the Schloss Esterhazy, you will visit the Haydn room. In the noble setting of this huge hall, decorated in the 18C with stucco, monochrome and frescoes, Josheph Haydn, nearly every evening conducted the orchestra of the princely court, often performing his own works. You will visit the artificial hill known as Kalvarienberg, it was built to provide the setting for 24 Stations of Cross they portray the story of the Passion with dramatic intensity and Baroque flair, inside the Bergkirche which was completed in 1722 the Haydn- Mausoleum marks the great composer's last resting place.
  • Lunch at your own arrangements and transfer back to Vienna.
  • The rest of the afternoon is at your leisure to visit one of the many museums, or go souvenir shopping.
  • Transfer to Grinzing to enjoy a typical Austrian Heurigen dinner. Vienna is not only known for its fine arts of classic music and dance; the city furthermore offers something called "Wiener Lied"or "Heurigen Entertainment".
  • Drive back to your hotel.

Day 9: Departure from Vienna

  • Fly from Vienna to home city.
