ITINERARY

 

Day 1: Departure Day

  • On arrival in Schiphol Airport (Amsterdam) you will be met by an EWT representative, who will be with you while youâ??re in Amsterdam. Load luggage and equipment on your private charter bus.
  • Amsterdam is the beautiful capital city of the Netherlands. In addition to being the political capital it is the cultural capital of the nations with plentiful museums, galleries and historical monuments, some of who you will visit during your tour.
  • Afternoon a guided tour of Amsterdam. You will see Dam Square and the Royal Palace, New Church, Old Church, Western Church which is near Anne Frankâ??s House, the former Olympic Stadium and the beautiful churches of Amsterdam. The guide will provide insight into the city during the war.
  • Arrive at your hotel for check in. Unload luggage.
  • Dinner at your hotel or local restaurant.

Day 2: Amsterdam

  • Breakfast at your hotel.
  • Everyone will have a public transportation day pass today.
  • Morning Tour of Anne Frankâ??s House.
  • Anne Frankâ??s House is one of the best-known monuments to how Jews lived during the Nazi era. This house gained its status by being the scene in which a young Jewish Girl by the name of Anne Frank lived and described in her diary. Sadly, Anne Frank did not survive the holocaust but her house did and remains a monument to the struggle of a persecuted people.
  • Time to purchase lunch.
  • Transfer and visit to the Stedelijk Modern Art Museum by public transport.
  • This 19th century building houses the Netherlands premier collection of modern art, contemporary art, and design.
  • Dinner at your hotel in the museum district.
  • Walk to Stadhouderskade, where the canal boats depart from.
  • Onboard this canal cruise visitors will enjoy a narration into the history and culture of the city of Amsterdam.

Day 3: Amsterdam

  • Breakfast at your hotel.
  • Everyone will have a public transportation day pass today.
  • Transfer to the Verzetsmuseum or Resistance Museum by public transport.
  • This museum has been named the best historical museum in the Netherlands; and it tells the story of the Dutch people during the Nazi occupation. The idea behind the museum is the immerse the visitors in the time period through the use of pictures of the streets during the war. There are also films, posters, sound clips and more to simulate the everyday life of the time.
  • Time to purchase lunch.
  • Transfer and visit to the Stedelijk Modern Art Museum by public transport.
  • Transfer and visit to the Hollandsche Schouwburg by public transport.
  • The Hollandsche Schouwburg or as it translates in English, The Dutch Theatre, was as indicative in the name a theatre. However, in 1941 this theatre was deemed by the Nazi occupiers to be a Jewish Theatre and then decided to use the structure as a deportation center. After the war the theatre returned to its original function until 1962 when it became a Holocaust memorial, in 1992 the walls where engraved by 6,700 surnames of the more than 100,000 Jewish deported from the Netherlands.

Day 4: Amsterdam

  • Breakfast at your hotel.
  • Everyone will have a public transportation day pass today.
  • Transfer by public transfer to the exhibition of Van Gogh in the Hermitage Museum for a guided tour.
  • Among the many Dutch impressionist artists Van Gogh is perhaps the best known. This museum is among the many galleries who contain the work of the artist, however what stands apart about the museum is that it is located in the house of the artist.
  • This afternoon will be at leisure for shopping in the city.
  • Dinner at your hotel or local restaurant

Day 5: Amsterdam

  • Breakfast at your hotel.
  • Transfer to Amsterdam Central Station by private charter bus.
  • Upon arrival in Berlin you will be met by an EWT representative, who will be with you while youâ??re in Berlin. Load luggage on your private charter bus.
  • Depending on the time of your arrival you may go directly to your hotel and check in then proceed to dinner. If time allows you may have free time to explore the city.
  • Berlin is the capital and largest city of Germany. Itâ??s 3.7 million population makes it the second most populous city in European Union after London. Geographically it is located on the banks of the River Spree which is the reason for its settlement in the 13th century because of the trade opportunities. This city is both historical as well as a hub of culture, politics, media and science.
  • Dinner at your hotel or local restaurant

Day 6: Berlin

  • Breakfast at your accommodation.
  • Meet your local coach and participate in a guided walking tour that focusses on the history of Berlin. Among the sites visited are the Holocaust Memorial, the rebuilt Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate, and the Berlin Wall.
  • Time to purchase lunch.
  • Afternoon entrance to the Berlinische Gallerie â?? The Berlinische Galerie houses one of Berlin's most important modern art collections, sitting by the former Berlin Wall between chic Mitte and cool Kreuzberg.
  • Dinner at your hotel or local restaurant.

Day 7: Berlin

  • Breakfast at your accommodation.
  • Morning guided tour of the Mauermuseum or Checkpoint Charlie Museum â?? Since 1962, the Mauermuseum - Haus am Checkpoint Charlie has been telling the stories of people fleeing from East Germany and the history of the Berlin Wall. Checkpoint Charlie is an iconic symbol of the division of Germany. In 1961, as East Germany is building a wall, you find American tanks stationed here. At the same time, resistance fighter Rainer Hildebrandt is building the Mauermuseum. Its mission: to catalogue escape plans as well as support escape attempts. Now the Mauermuseum is known for its extensive collection of items from 30 years of history, such as cars and hot air balloons that tell the stories of how successful escapees did it.
  • Afternoon guided tour of the Jewish Museum â?? The Jewish Museum Berlin, which opened to the public in 2001, exhibits the social, political and cultural history of the Jews in Germany from the fourth century to the present, explicitly presenting and integrating, for the first time in postwar Germany, the repercussions of the Holocaust. The new building is housed next to the site of the original Prussian Court of Justice building which was completed in 1735 now serves as the entrance to the new building.

Day 8: Berlin

  • Breakfast at your accommodation.
  • Morning guided tour Sachsenhausen
  • Sachsenhausen was a Nazi concentration camp in Oranienburg that has since been converted into a museum of the atrocities committed against the victims of the Nazi regime. Among residence of the camp were political prisoners from 1936 to the end of the Third Reich in May 1945. After the end of the war and east Germany fell under the Soviets the camp was converted into an NKVD special camp until 1950.
  • Afternoon transfer back to Berlin and free time in city.
  • Final Dinner of the Tour at a local restaurant.

Day 9: Departure from Berlin

  • Breakfast at your accommodation.
  • Check-out and private coach transfer to the Berlin Airport.
  • Fly from Berlin to Home City.
