ITINERARY

 

Day 1: Arrival to Queen Charlotte City, Graham Island

  • Drive or fly to Graham Island, the largest of the islands forming Haida Gwaii.
  • Haida Gwaii, the "Islands of the People", is an archipelago made of over 150 islands. It boasts an incredible history surrounding the culture of the Haida People, who first inhabited these islands over 10,000 years ago.
  • Welcome dinner.

Day 2: Queen Charlotte City – Greater Masset – Naikoon Provincial Park– Queen Charlotte City

  • Breakfast.
  • Drive to the village of Masset located in the north of Graham Island.
  • Entrance to the Dixon Maritime Museum to learn about the history as well as the first settlements in the area.
  • Walking tour of Old Masset, home to three traditional Haida Villages.
  • Drive to Naikoon Provincial Park, the traditional home of the Gwak’rala’chala people. It is known for its unspoiled wilderness, cultural sites and spectacular beauty.
  • Afternoon discovery of Agate and North Beach. At Tow Hill, short walk along the boardwalk to the Blowhole. Admire the power of the ocean on full display!
  • Quick swim at Pure Lake on your way back South.
  • Visit of St. Mary’s Spring. Make sure to taste some of the freshest water on Earth!
  • End the day with a visit of Balance Rock, a natural landmark that looks unsteadily posed on the coast at first sight, but is in fact balancing perfectly.
  • Group dinner.

Day 3: Queen Charlotte City – Port Clements – Queen Charlotte City

  • Breakfast.
  • Drive to the active forestry area of Port Clements.
  • Visit of the Port Clements Museum to learn about the role and conditions of the forestry industry in Haida Gwaii.
  • Short hike along the Golden Spruce Trail, named after the Golden Sitka Spruce that used to grow in the area. End your hike at the Port Clements Memorial Park.
  • Visit of Tlell, home of different types of local artisans. Free time to explore the shops and discover their craft.
  • Guided tour of the magnificent Haida Heritage Center, a landmark in Queen Charlotte City introducing and celebrating the traditions of all fourteen Haida Clans. Tours available:
    • Monumental Pole (Most Popular); Museum Tour; Monumental Pole & Weaving.
  • Group dinner.

Day 4: Queen Charlotte City – Sgang Gwaay Linagaay – Queen Charlotte City

  • Breakfast.
  • Day-trip to SGang Gwaay Llnagaay (Ninstints) on Anthony Island, crossing the full shoreline of Gwaii Haanas.
  • Along the way, your guide will narrate local stories and introduce you to songs from the Haida people’s heritage.
  • Discover the ancient village and UNESCO World Heritage Site and learn about Haida ancestries and lifestyles.
  • After a special day you will never forget, arrive back in Queen Charlotte City in the evening.
  • Farewell dinner.

Day 5: Departure from Queen Charlotte City

  • Breakfast.
  • Drive or fly to home city.
