ITINERARY

 

Day 1: Arrival Day

  • Drive or fly to St John’s, the most eastern city of Canada and one of the oldest cities in North America. Home to a rich heritage, this historic and cultural gem is best explored along its narrow and curving streets.
  • Entrance to The Rooms Museum, which hosts the most of the province’s heritage and art. Choose among a variety of interactive programs, exhibits and experiences and dive in! Examples of programs available:
    • Music with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra; Exploring Art and Artists; Soldiers’ Stories: the province at war; Watercolour painting.
  • Evening at a local Fun Park with arcade tokens, mini golf and pizza dinner.

Day 2: St. John’s

  • Breakfast.
  • Visit of Cape Spear Lighthouse, the oldest lighthouse in Newfoundland and Labrador and representing its history from the sea.
  • Visit of the Signal Hill, the most visited site in St. John’s and protecting its harbour between the 17th century and the Second World War. It is also where the Italian inventor Guglielmo Marconi received the first wireless signal in 1901.
  • Free time for shopping at the fishing village of Quidi Vidi, renowned for its craft shops and friendly local artisans.
  • Group dinner.
  • Entrance to the Aquatic Centre. Enjoy a swimming pool, two waterslides and a therapeutic warm water leisure pool.

Day 3: St. John’s – Trinity

  • Breakfast.
  • Drive from St. John’s to Trinity, a small town known as the “Pearl of Newfoundland Out ports”. Home to a rich theatre scene and history, it showcases several buildings that are recognized by the province as Registered Heritage Structures.
  • Historical walking tour. In a fully narrated guided tour, stroll along Trinity’s narrow streets as you learn about its heritage and the various historical events that took place in the town. OR
  • “New Founde Lande Trinity Pageant” walking tour. Witness actors from the Rise Tide Theatre take history live to the streets and portray the local play’s most interesting characters.
  • Group dinner.
  • Theatre Show at the Rising Tide Theatre.

Day 4: Trinity – Twillingate

  • Breakfast.
  • Drive from Trinity to Twillingate, a town located on the Twillingate Islands in Nortre Dame Bay and blending historic and natural wonders. It hosts a historic fishing community and one of the oldest ports on the island.
  • Guided tour of Prime Berth Twillingate Fishery & Heritage Centre to discover the rich history of the fishing industry. Do not miss out on a short lobster fishing trip!
  • Dinner theatre.

Day 5: Twillingate – Rocky Harbour

  • Breakfast.
  • Early drive from Twillingate to Gros Morne National Park, a natural wonder showcasing captivating geological sites.
  • Visit of the Lobster Cove Head Lighthouse, a 100-year old lighthouse displaying photos and audio recordings of the area’s people and heritage.
  • Hands-on program of your choice. Fields available: Culture, Geology, Natural History and Art.
  • Drive to Rocky Harbour, which has the largest population in Gros Morne National Park. This area was previously known as Small Bay or Little Harbour for being closely linked to the fishing and wood industry. Since then, the town has grown into a tourism community, offering spectacular views, whales, and icebergs.
  • Group dinner.

Day 6: Rocky Harbour – Corner Brook

  • Breakfast.
  • Entrance to Bonne Bay Marine Station & Public Aquarium. Guided by a student interpreter, explore the biology of Bonne Bay.
  • Drive to Corner Brook, the second largest city in the province. Home to one of the world’s largest pulp and paper mills since 1925, the city also boasts a wide natural heritage.
  • Entrance to the Corner Brook Museum & Archives, one of the city’s oldest buildings from 1925. Among other sights, the Court Room, Post Office, Customs and Telegraph office will teach you about the cultural and historical heritage of the city.
  • Visit of the Captain James Cook Historic Site, celebrating the British navigator who explored the Bay of Islands in the 1760s.
  • Farewell dinner.
  • Bowling including shoe rental.

Day 7: Departure Day

  • Breakfast.
  • Drive or fly to home city.
