Greetings, educators!

This week we would like you to get to know us, the EWT's Sales Team, a little bit better. We decided to share with you some of our own travel experiences during the summer of 2020, when it was possible to travel within our beautiful home province, British Columbia. What was it like, and what did we personally get out of it?

2020 has been the opportunity for me to explore further my adoptive country since 2018. Originally from Europe – France, to be precise – I am used to the possibility of taking a short flight to a selection of foreign countries. Mostly for that reason, I tend to travel internationally rather than locally when having the choice; but honestly, I am so glad I stayed in breath-taking BC this summer! I made the most of the beautiful weather – a rarity in the Vancouver area – in a range of local destinations such as the wine regions of the Okanagan and Lillooet as well as lush Vancouver Island.

The drives to each of these natural splendors were undoubtedly the highlights of my summer. Located only about 3 to 4 hours from Vancouver, the Okanagan surprised me by how different it is, both in its scenery climate, which reminded me of California, and its scenery. The hilly drive to Lillooet from Vancouver was literally the most beautiful one I have ever been on. My experience in Vancouver Island can be summed up as adventure and wilderness. Mostly camping around, I have had a lot of fun hiking, surfing, and taking pleasure in the simplest things of life – cooking an outside meal before relaxing around a cracking fire.

I already loved BC before, but now, I am in complete awe!

2020. What a year! Even though I was in Milano in February, a couple of days before the outbreak of Corona in Italy, the last 9 months were mostly dedicated to the family, to new home office experiences, to the world transforming through my window. The four-season passed by and I witnessed all the changes happening behind my computer screen. My wanderlust had to be tamed. Not an easy task when your passport is your best friend.

The challenge of traveling during a pandemic was accepted and the whole family drove around beautiful British Columbia whenever it was possible. In August, we discovered the South Cariboo region around 100 Mile House, its lakes, and wonders. We loved the wild nature, the calm lakes, the portentous mountain. A month later we visited Kelowna for the first time. An enchanting city that offers fresh-water beaches, abundant natural attractions, and mesmerizing views from the mountains overlooking the Okanagan valley. Kids and adults enjoyed it. British Columbia is undoubtedly an amazing place to be.
